Your Rhinoplasty Journey

Revision Rhinoplasty applies to any patient who has previously undergone rhinoplasty and wants an improvement in the appearance or function of their nose. It is a complex procedure and needs to be carried out by an expert rhinoplasty surgeon. This is because the natural anatomy of the nose has already been changed during the previous surgery. In addition, scar tissue will have developed distorting the nasal cartilage and making the nasal skin rigid and difficult to dissect.
If you are unhappy with your Rhinoplasty, there is always the option to see Dr. Gilleard for a Revision Rhinoplasty. You may consider a revision if:
Dr. Gilleard is experienced in evaluating and operating on noses for the second time, and we would be glad to advise you as to the best course of action.
Revision rhinoplasty often requires cartilage grafts for structural support of the tip of the nose. Dr Gilleard uses irradiated cadaveric rib cartilage for such cases. This avoids having to take cartilage from another part of the patient’s body such as the ear or rib. After surgery it is common for patients to benefit from steroid injections to prevent excess build-up of scar tissue that can occur after revision rhinoplasty. This is particularly useful in the tip of the nose to improve definition.
