Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty
The Piezotome uses ultrasonic energy emitted from a specially designed handpiece for increased precision, less swelling and a faster recovery.
Traditionally, the term 'Rhinoplasty' was used to describe surgery to change the outward appearance of the nose. In contrast Septo-rhinoplasty was used when additional changes to the septum were made to improve breathing. With modern structural and preservation Rhinoplasty techniques, such distinctions are less valid. Almost all Rhinoplasty surgery nowadays will also address the septum. Even if the septum is not deviated and breathing is not a problem, grafts are taken from this area of the nose for tip support and to improve other aesthetic issues. As such in modern rhinoplasty the traditional distinction between “Rhinoplasty vs Septorhinoplasty” has less meaning.
In this case the septum was severely deviated. From an aesthetic point of view it resulted in asymmetry of the columella, nostrils and nasal tip. In addition breathing through both nostrils was restricted. During septorhinoplasty the septum was reshaped and repositioned. Both the appearance and the function of the nose was greatly improved after surgery.
